BROWNSVILLE, Pa.—A western Pennsylvania high school teacher has been suspended for 30 days without pay after she appeared in a picture someone else posted on Facebook that included a male stripper at a bridal shower.

Brownsville Area School District officials aren't identifying the teacher who was suspended last month.
The school district's attorney, Jeremy Davis, says public comment on the issue won't be allowed when the school board meets next Thursday. That hasn't stopped board members from commenting to Pittsburgh-area television reporters anyway. Board member Stella Broadwater says the suspension is appropriate because the photo became public, but member Sandra Chan says it was too harsh because the teacher had no control over the photo being posted. source

Should this teacher have been suspended over a picture someone else posted on Facebook?

It seems a little ridiculous, doesn't it? How many women go to bridal showers where there are male strippers? I have - and I have seen old christian women get wound up and involved in "tipping" the dancers - bet they would just LOVE for pics of that to make it to the church paper!

I think they are over-reacting. The woman had no control over what happened with the pics and it was all innocent fun.

Someone else posted the picture right, well how the hell is it the teachers fault? Did she even know the picture was posted? Did she ok her picture being posted on a public forum? or was it done without her knowledge and consent? Total over reaction on the district.


I take pictures of my son playing soccer, I try not to get anyone elses kid in the pic, but if I do, I ALWAYS ask if its ok to post it on sons facebook page [where he likes the pics put up]. If a parent ever says no or even hesitates in answering, that pic doesn't go on.
