Hello Guys,
New to the board and great forum,
I have a question about carry permit in Monroe County. I am going on day #30 and still waiting for my permit. I was wondering if someone can give an idea if it truely takes 45 days??.
Thanks,

Welcome Iceman9999 to TalkPa.
We have a few folks that might be able to answer that for you but in the meantime, have you tried calling about where they are in the approval process?

They are doing background checks.

Could be that with the way the economy is and the cutbacks in staff that the background check is taking longer.

Sorry folks was in another forum. Will stick to this forum..
I already purchased a Glock23 and S&W 40. Cal with no problems from my background check a month ago. Purchased both the same day at dunkel after background check...
It says 30/45 days, should I give it to Friday Oct 2nd and than call them or you think I should give them a call today??

Do you really think GOVERNMENT would cut staff?

Background checks are probably done already. Notifications are what are being sent. Your local police will be notified that a permit is being issued to you, etc. There is also a short waiting period to see if anything else comes up, i.e. restraining orders, disorderly conducts, etc. The police don't want someone to get a permit to carry the next day, if they are involved with a situation.
Hope that helps.

By law they have 45 days. However, most of it depends on the Sheriff doing the processing.
I got my LTCF (License to Carry Firearms) in Beaver County. It took about 2 weeks because I mailed mine in. My son went down the courthouse shortly after his 21st birthday and got his in 15 minutes.
FYI, PA does not issue CCW permits...they are LTCF. Just terminology. To get more info, check the forums out at www.pafoa.org/forum
There's a lot of real knowledgeable people there that can offer further advice.
