I have had limited time for catching up with things. And, I am not really a "gadget" person. Power tools, air tools... yeah.... the only gadget that I am up on right now is the new OBD 2&1 scanner that I bought.

Looks like a good deal & it incorparates the use of an e-reader... So really you are gonna pay an extra $250-300 & get a computer & e-reader. Looks sweet, especially w/ the keyboard attachment. But w/ all the other tablets I think its best to hold off & see whats best for each user. I like the $29.00 a month fee, it would actually be cheaper than getting Comcast or Verizon service for $45 a month.

I couldn't come up with a reason for getting it other than it being a cool new toy, and I'm trying to save money. Plus I'm not exactly a rocket-scientist in the computer dept., so I really don't need it.

Son the IT Geek got one from his employer ... it is nifty. But I don't think I could use it in lieu of laptop. HATE the touchscreen computer keyboard. But everything else about it (that I saw in a limited time) was nifty. It is great as a reader. Really nice screen which is backlit.
My mom's laptop is crashing on her, and my brother and I are looking to see if this would be a suitable replacement. She only uses hers for games, surfing and watching movies. I think the touchscreen may be a drawback for her, but she shot it down mostly because she can't watch her movies. Paying ITunes 5.00/movie pretty much did it in for her.
So now we're debating between a regular desktop and a Mac. I'd love for her to try out a Mac, my brother is going to bring his home when he is on leave this summer. We'll see.

ipad, imo, useless...it is a big iphone, it can't print, it can't run programs like any other computers, it only has apps, from the apps store, and it is not that great as a ereader. if you want a ereader get the kindle or a nook.

I really can't say anything good about Dell. Dell is what drove me to Mac. Replacing the AC adaptor cord twice in 2 years, then reading how Dell knew this was a problem with their laptops and went, "Meh" pretty much pissed me off. Their customer service blows, too.
I have an old hp laptop that wheezes like Darth Vader but would probably run if I slapped it hard enough.

Sure, get a PC if you like rebooting and constantly worrying about viruses. I've been on the 'net 24/7 since it was made available to the public (1989). No virus protector and no virus ever. Never had a need to reboot.

I heard rumors of a Verizon deal but when I asked a Verizon rep all they would say was "Something exciting is going to happen" They weren`t allowed to talk about it.

If you want a good phone check out ones running Google's Android. You can use them as a wireless hotspot for your laptop. You can download music directly to your phone over the wireless internet. It supports flash. Better features and better service then AT&T.
IPad....they should have just made laptop. It's nothing more than an IPhone without the phone part. So which would you rather carry around, an Ipad or an IPhone.
