North Pocono principal facing termination over a song defends herself at a hearing

JEFFERSON TWP. - A suspended North Pocono principal facing termination after a song with questionable lyrics played over the school's public address system said Friday that she had no idea the lyrics include references to masturbation and venereal disease.


"I assumed that it was the song that I heard on the radio," Laura Davis, suspended principal of Jefferson Elementary Center said at the North Pocono School District public hearing on the matter. "I did not know that it had any bad words in it."



Ms. Davis said she wanted to play "The Thanksgiving Song" by comedian Adam Sandler to create a festive holiday atmosphere for the teachers. The song played over the loudspeakers after dismissal on Nov. 25.



Since then, the district's school board has conducted a hearing, continued over two sessions nine days apart. District solicitor Joseph O'Brien said the board will likely vote on Ms. Davis' termination in about a month. The vote will be public, he said.


Witnesses for the district testified that up to 20 students were still in the school when the song played, but Ms. Davis said she cannot remember any students being present. read more

I am not sure where I stand on this one. Part of me thinks that she was smart enough to know that it should be played after dismissal but she still should have previewed the song. Termination might be a little too drastic of a step, IMO, at least for this one issue but there may be other things in her past that this might be the final straw for the district.

o my god to much , i just pulled my last rukey to cook out of the freeezer this week with all the cold and up snow storm comming a nice hot turkey dinner is the key. i will not lison to the turkey song thats for shore i never heard it. i can't be getting kinky with the dam turkey i'm not that hard up. lol

They teach them that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were racist Biggots but Martin Luther King was a great leader

And they teach them all about the Koran but NOTHING about the bible

Public schools promote the satanic Holloween parade ritual yet ban Christmas parades.

Get your children out of the public school system as soon as possible.

A school teacher friend of mine told me a sad story. In short a child came to her music lessons and started to go into a big crying spell. My fried asked her what is wrong. She said we will all die soon. So my friend said why? She said because of the Ozone Hole. My friend calmed her down and told her all will be ok. And when you go back to class ask your teacher how big was the hole 50 years ago for comparison. Later that day she saw my friend in the lunch room and ran up to him with a very big hug and said thanks, I feel much better.
Folks like that should be removed out of fifth grade!

That is just wrong in education period.
