I never heard of any of them so this is all new to me! I'm very familiar with the Frackville area as family have lived there, but the New Paris site, in Bedford Co is new territory for me!

Can you briefly explain how it is an optical illusion? More of an abstract thinker here, rather than a scienceophile

The earth around it falls off to a lower grade while giving the road the appearance of accending a hill whereas the ground around the road is falling below the road at a rate that makes it appear to be a hill.
