Well, with the back to back losses to the Dallas Cowboys to end the '09 season the Philadelphia Sports World is all abuzz about McNabb and his future in Philadelphia.

The big question is if he will be back next year. DO you think he will?

Also in question is Westbrook, Vick and a few others.

Who stays and who goes?

here is the new Eagles thread!

some rumors on the wires................

Bills interested in Eagles QB Donovan McNabb?

It might be time for a new starting quarterback for the Eagles. It certainly is time for a new starting quarterback for the Bills. Donovan McNabb would not be Buffalo’s QB of the future, but he’d be a huge improvement for the present. Even if the Bills select a QB (Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen) with the No. 9 pick in this year’s college draft, McNabb would be a solid starter for now. McNabb, who turned 33 last Nov. 25, has one season left on a two-year, $24.5 million contract. Philadelphia has Kevin Kolb waiting in the wings and might think the time has come to make the QB switch. But the Eagles aren’t going to release McNabb or give him away. Decent QBs are too scarce for that. I have no idea what Philadelphia would want in trade for McNabb, but the Bills shouldn’t waste any time finding out. A third-round pick in 2010, a future low-round pick or two, and a decent veteran might be enough to get him and a reasonable price to pay.
--------------------------------

I don't see this as a possible scenario. I think Reid is too invested in McNabb to make any move for the QB.

Eagles coach: Michael Vick wants to start

Andy Reid said that he loves Michael Vick’s competitiveness, loves that he still aspires to be a starter. He seemed to be saying that he really wants Vick back, although it is hard to see the Vick experiment as anything but a costly diversion for the Birds this season, one that hinted at a lot more production than it ever delivered. Reid was asked if he thought Vick would be disappointed to return as a backup, should the Eagles pick up his $5 million contract option. “I don’t think so, but we’ll see as this thing goes on. I know he wants to start. That part I do know, but I don’t think he would be real disappointed,” Reid said. — Philadelphia Daily News
------------------------
This isn't news. It is no secret. Vick wants to start and it will not be with the Eagles. The only question is where? I hear that Buffalo is looking for a QB.

McNabb to the Browns?????

Browns target QB’s Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb?

It’s very possible that the Browns will enter the 2010 season with their eighth starting quarterback in 12 years and seventh in the last eight years.
When it comes to finding the next Browns’ quarterback, you have to start with Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert. That leads you to three primary candidates — Matt Hasselbeck of Seattle, and Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb of Philadelphia. — Cleveland Plain Dealer

Westbrook done with Eagles?

Giving Brian Westbrook no carries and one touch in the biggest game of the season - along with his hefty salary - is pretty overwhelming evidence that the Eagles are going in another direction. The sad truth is the Eagles were 7-1 this year when Westbrook didn’t play and 4-5 when he did. — Bucks County Courier Times

I was just up in Ridley and there is a Clothing store across from the comic book store I go to that on Wednesday had signs up for deeply discounted Westbrook and Akers merchandise. I was thinking 'what do they know'. Now it makes sense.

Eagles Michael Vick wants to start, will be traded before April draft

Eagles backup quarterback Michael Vick said yesterday he wants to be a starter in the NFL next season and that it would be difficult for him to return to the same role he had in Philadelphia. “Me and my agent spoke briefly about 2 days ago [about the Eagles being willing to let him out of the final year of his contract],” Vick said on Dan Patrick’s radio show. “He’s just trying to get an understanding on what we thought was the best-case scenario and how we should approach the situation in regards to being respectful. We thought that was important. We didn’t put a timetable on it but it should happen pretty soon. So, we’ll see.” A league source told the Daily News last week that coach Andy Reid told Vick he will be traded before April’s draft. At last week’s Senior Bowl, several teams expressed curiosity about Vick, who should bring at least a fourth-round pick in a trade. — Philadelphia Daily News
------------------------------

I hope we get a decent trade for him. The Eagles are in need of good quality players in several positions that a trade of Vick could fill a few holes on both sides of the ball. Not sure why we would want to go with a draft pick though, i would think that an OL or DL vetern would be a better option.

Report: Rams Serious About McNabb

Could Donovan McNabb be headed to the Rams? A reputable reporter in St. Louis says the Rams are in an “intense debate” about an Eagles’ trade.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Bryan Burwell says former Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coach Steve Spagnoulo and Rams’ management are debating about McNabb or Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford as the team’s quarterback in 2010.
“According to more than one well-informed source, the Rams have had intense internal conversations with the Philadelphia Eagles about a trade for Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb,” Burwell said. read more

I don't know. I don't think that he is going to go anywhere. There was Westbrook's rant against the Eagles the other day about how the Birds were all about money not winning and this would just add fuel to the fire in that argument.

Sources: Reid Blocking McNabb Trade

Despite Reports, Rams May Not Be Interested
PHILADELPHIA - Fox 29 has learned that the Philadephia Eagles are divided on a Donovan McNabb trade, with one very powerful Eagle blocking a potential deal.
The NFL free agency period has officially begun and, as teams make offers and deals, reports say Donovan McNabbb could be traded soon.
There are many interested teams out there, but right now the Eagles are not accepting any offers yet.
Sources tell Fox 29's sports department that the St. Louis Rams are not one of those teams, contrary to some reports.
But we're also being told that trading McNabb is not going to be easy because internally the Eagles' brass wants to move him but Andy Reid does not.
Nine restricted free agents were tenderized Thursday. Cornerback Ellis Hobbs was the only Eagle tagged with first-round compensation.
The Birds and Leonard Weaver could not agree on a contract extension, so they offered Weaver a second-round tender. A long-tem deal is reportedly close to being finalized.
Now, what all of this means is that if another team signs one of these players to an offer sheet, the Eagles would have seven days to match. But if they choose not to match, they would receive a 2010 draft pick compensation for that player.
The Eagles are believed to be evaluating free agents like Packers defensive end Aarom Kampman.
Julius Peppers and Kyle Vanden Bosch are likely off the free agent market after they have been linked to Chicago and Detroit.

shortly after posting the ESPN story that ESPN made news with yesterday, DT posts it as breaking news?

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to the Cleveland Browns for linebacker Alex Hall and two draft picks.

The Eagles will receive picks in the fourth (105th) and fifth (137th) rounds in the upcoming NFL draft. The deal was announced Friday.

Brown has been a longtime starter for the Eagles, but was unhappy with his contract situation. Gocong had just signed a one-year deal.

Hall played two seasons with the Browns, starting just two games. source

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/sports/eagles/041910-eagles-get-lb-ernie-sims-from-lions

The Philadelphia Eagles have swung a big trade to get hard-tackling linebacker Ernie Sims from the Detroit Lions.
The Eagles will reportedly send a 5th round draft pick to Denver and the Broncos will send tight end Tony Scheffler to Detroit.
Sims, 25, is a fast, talented linebacker who battled injuries last season, but he started in 48 consecutive games before 2009.
He plays the weakside linebacker position, which is currently occupied by Akeem Jordan
Sims is also in the final year of his rookie contract and he was the ninth overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft
The move will likely send Jordan to the bench, since Jordan can't play the Eagles' other two linebacker positions.

Halloween football games are fun, IMO. I don't know the Steelers schedule, but I hope they play on Halloween. I know last year PSU vs Northwestern was pretty fun being on Halloween, even though PSU struggled for 2 1/2 quarters, Northwestern turned out to be a really good football team, despite their near disaster at home against Eastern Michigan and an outright loss to Syracuse in the Carrier Dome.
