About 70 percent of Pennsylvania school districts plan to raise property taxes

About 70 percent of Pennsylvania school districts plan to raise property taxes in the 2015-2016 school year, according to a recent survey.
Conducted by the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators, the survey found 2015-16 will mark the sixth consecutive year in which at least 60 percent of districts statewide have had to raise additional local revenue in order to meet educational needs.



One of the largest drivers is increased pension costs. According to the survey, which included responses from 346 of the state's 500 districts, 99 percent of districts project an increase in pension costs for the upcoming school year. read more

Having witnessed the decline in the education produce by school systems after having more and more money thrown at them I would say that any proposal to throw even more money at education is absolutely stupid. If you track the money spent on public education it closely matches two things, the size of the federal education agency and the power of related unions, neither of which does anything for a solid education for the children.

They need to fund their pensions, at this point by robbing many landowners in their districts of any chance of secure retirement.

Take away any tax credits for children and give them to those that don't have children. That would be fair. I don't mind paying some for public education but I do mind when those being educated come from families paying less.
