Teacher Resigns Over Porn Allegations
School Officials: Computer Seized From Matthew Krapf's Home
HANOVER, Pa. -- A York County elementary school teacher has resigned from his teaching job in connection with child pornography allegations, South Western School District officials said.
On April 1, state police seized computer equipment from the home of Matthew Krapf in connection with allegations that child pornography sites had been viewed, school officials said.
Krapf has not been charged. State police are investigating.
Krapf taught fifth grade in the South Western School District for 10 years, most recently at Baresville Elementary School. Krapf has not been teaching since the computer equipment was seized.
District Shocked
Superintendent Barbara Rupp said she recieved Krapf's resignation Wednesday. She stressed that state police investigators allegedly found child pornography on Krapf's home computer. Rupp said the district's computer system would have prevented any of those types of images from being viewed at school.
"There's no reason to think anything inappropriate ever occurred in his classroom," Rupp said.
School officials said that they met with parents Tuesday night.
Along with being a teacher, Krapf was also a track coach. Rupp said Krapf was a good educator and news of the allegations were a shock to the district. SOURCE
