I love this area of Pa! I've been comming here since 1986 and finally fled the crime and confusion of the Pocono Mtns in 2006 for this quiet part of the world!. Don't get me wrong, the Poconos will always be home, but the Pocono's that I knew no longer exsist. it has been replaced with Urban sprawl and NY city attitude.
Of course everythings not right next door, like the Poconos, but I find my life much easier here in the western part of the Endless Mountains.
the moutainsides are covered with trees (Not houses) and there is an abundance of WILD animals (not those creatures who have moved into the housing developments of the east). No, I'm not talking about the people! LOL
There's nothing like being able to see a sky full of stars without the glow of nearby cities, or listen to the quiet rush of a soft breeze on a perfect summers eve. Yes this is where I want to be!

Endless stars at night. The peacefulness of the mountains, but knowing the wild is ever present. Being able to hear the sounds uninterrupted by man. The smell of the mountains without the smell of diesel.

Few years ago we took a friend of my daughters with us on a 9 day camping trip in Morris, PA - Tioga. Great trip, hated leaving. Got back to Delco and she says "whats that smell, smells like rotten broccoli"...it was the scent of urbia she was smelling. Eye opener to the pollution here.

Willardbush, I envy you. I can't wait to be able to move up to the place that has always been home to me. Growing up we spent as much time in Potter Co. as we did in Delaware Co. Had 2 cabins in Costello, one in Conrad and friends with cabins all over in between. Now we go to Tioga co. and I love it just as much.

To me it was like coming home! I guess you have had to live it to know the feeling.

Always been my dream to buy a house in the mountains... far, far away from civilization.

When I was in N. Carolina, I lived on a 40 acre piece of ground - no electric, had to pump my water from the well, outhouse, wood stove for cooking, dry ice to keep food from spoiling, took baths in metal tub filled with water we pumped and heated on the wood stove...

Loved every minute of every day there.

I hear that Summerrain! I know how that goes..been there, did that!
Wouldn't it be so much nicer to live life on our terms, instead of everyone elses? I have been cutting back these past couple years on many things. I've finally realised the true meaning between NEEDS & WANTS. We are raised to be consumers. (He who has the most toys wins) To put our nose to the grindstone everyday for what? some piece of junk at wal-mart, made in china, that we'll only put into storage. To pay ever increasing "costs of Living" to centralised utillity companies, insurance companies, and let's not forget Local, State and Federal government taxes.
I want a simpler life! the only way I'm gonna achieve it is, if I do it Myself or with a group of like minded people! I'm beginning to realise it's not impossible!

I have a friend out in Montana - I have been invited to come out there, and maybe I will one day, but I am afraid that if I go, I will stay. Work my own land and live a good life...

I am not one for the biggest, baddest toys - though I do have a few (love restoring old cars). I keep money enough money in the bank that if something were to happen, I am prepared for just about anything.... but I live it up, too. What's the sense of making it and leaving it here for someone else to enjoy?
