The other thing Altoona Man about weather predictions between you and I..............
Our areas are different and therefore the weather is going to be different. What you have weather wise will be much different than here in the Philly Metro region.

And, Central PA seems to get missed more often than not... My understanding is that we are in a valley and the snow mostly goes up the other side of either mountain... it is when the storm comes up between them that I see the type of snow that brings me lots of joy.

I just sent out a snow order to Jacksonville, FL last night.... Out of curiosity, I checked their weather - 81 degrees and the lowest expected temp this week is 45.... What do they need snow tools for?

Generally speaking, precipitation will be above average for the winter, the temperatures will be slightly below average.
So to break it down, the remainder of the month of December will be cold and wet. Not a lot of snow but it will be wet.
January starts out mostly dry but the end of the month gets wet again with a few snow storms. Not significant snow just 3-6 inchers. February is when it gets really fun. Cold and white.
March comes in like a lion, the first week anyway. By mid March weather will be in the form of rain but a rare March storm of snow is likely.
I actually mostly agree if you look at my forecast, but I think that after the mid-March warmth we have another cold spell. March snowstorms aren't rare here in Altoona, in fact, they're very common. March is our snowiest month on average, April is the month here where if we get snow, it'll usually be early in the month. I think March will come in like a wolf (neither lion or lamb), turn into a lamb, then a lion, then go out like a wolf again, and April will start off with some snow (not for Eastern PA, though, just places like Altoona), then become warm and mostly clear, sometimes summer-like, then finish wet and cool.
I think the biggest snowfalls will be late February through early March, however. A lot of this winter will be like the winter of 2002-2003 or 2003-2004.

That's true, a single storm system can bring rain to Philly but snow, dry powdery snow even, to Altoona. Or a nor'easter could give you more snow than us.

It'll be just as cold as in 1983, perhaps a bit colder. I'm talking record cold here, as in all time December record low cold. The cold eases its grip as we approach the new year, but still is brutal cold.

For the month of December it looks like we are both pretty close although I said that there won't be a lot of snow, other than that one little storm that dropped 2 feet we have not had a lot of snow.
AM was off on the record cold. While very very cold, it was not record setting and there was nothing to suggest any snow fall from AM.
So right now, neither of us are hitting on all cylinders

Still did better than a lot of forecasters. Had that shifted more our way, BAM. Amazing how close a miss can be to a hit if you look at weathermaps.
Anyways, my forecast was pretty accurate for Altoona, but we didn't come anywhere near record cold, although it did drop down below 0 once in December.

I think I hit February on the head. I said it would be fun and it was.
The March storm that I saw months ago looks to be rain this week. I was hoping that it would be snow and it might be a little mixed with the rain but it mostly looks like a rain event.
Still I am seeing another snow storm for the month of march and it might be coming around the early week of the 14th.
After that we start to warm up and spring will come with all the beautiful flowers and budding trees.
But until then......

I think we will have a later in the month snow storm. After the 15th I think. The way this winter has been, It started with snow, I think it will end with snow. Then on to a great colorful spring because of all the snow we have had.

This guy has been right on the button for many years. My brother knows of him and said this weekend that he was predicting lots of snow coming up this weekend. I think Robb (TalkDE's "weatherman") had said something about another storm possibility coming up this week - but that was a couple weeks ago...Haven't seen what he has said about it recently.
